The gallery is delighted to announce that an original photographic collage by Abigail Hunt is being used as the Photo London 2020 campaign.
After the gallery exhibited new works by Abigail made from previous editions of the Photo London catalogue at the Fair in 2019, Photo London selected Abigail to create a new work for their campaign that responds to the Fair’s catalogue, bringing together the past and future of their editions.
New works by Abigail Hunt will be shown by Sid Motion Gallery at Photo London Online, 7–18 October 2020
Abigail’s artistic practice and sculptural approach to creating photographic collages is based on found objects and images, which through investigation, deconstruction and play transform from the readymade into delicate constructions. It is this exploration of the photographic media that Photo London is encouraging through the commission, and are spotlighting with this selection.
Abigail Hunt has shown at 5 Years, Whitechapel Art Gallery, Camden Arts Centre, Platform for Art, London Underground, EAST International and Sid Motion Gallery. She has written extensive publications for clients, including Tate and Whitechapel, exploring interpretations of contemporary art. In addition, her separate collaborative practice with artist Kieren Reed involves a direct interaction with audiences within manufactured and suggested situations. They have worked on commissions for the Herbert Read Gallery, Tate Britain, IKON Gallery and The New Art Gallery Walsall. They have shown work internationally and in the UK, including exhibitions at Studio Voltaire and Gasworks as well as live performance works for Cubitt and the Folkestone Triennial.
